Founded in Oregon in 1993, Moonstruck Chocolatier is a small but mighty confectioner. Their handmade chocolates, created by Chef Julian Rose, are made from only the finest ingredients that taste and look equally astounding. From animal shaped truffles, to tumbled chocolate boxes, and of course traditional chocolate bars, this chocolatier certainly knows how to make something sweet look even sweeter!

What caught my eye, in particular, was the chocolate bar packaging and stand up tumbled chocolate boxes. Artistically designed with three different printing techniques, these label wrappers are a work of art in themselves. Embossing was used for the crescent moon logo, foil stamping for the colored text, and the designs are done with a silver metallic. Using a mix of embossing and foil stamping will give the candy bar wrapper a three dimensional texture as opposed to most candy bar wrappers that are solely two dimensional. Their tumbled chocolate boxes are also beautifully designed with similar designs and even a die cut bird on the box’s front for an interesting way to showcase the candy inside. The small company has certainly made a name for themselves as they have won several awards for both their chocolate and packaging. Good Housekeeping awarded them the title for “Tastiest Truffles” back in 2005, and the Los Angeles International Chocolate Salon awarded Moonstruck’s chocolate bars as Best Dark & Milk Chocolate, Best Traditional Chocolate, and Best Presentation and Packaging. In addition, The Academy Awards have selected the chocolatier as the official chocolate for the Oscars in both 2005 and 2006.
