No matter the size, shape, or construction of your medical label, we can provide a specialized solution. We have the capabilities to create a variety of products including peel-off labels, tamper-evident labels, syringe labels, warning labels, sheet labels, chart labels, and serialized labels.
We are an authorized 3M medical product supplier. We also participate in Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Certification programs, where we work with each of our customers individually to ensure that all aspects of UL's requirements are met. In addition, we are registered with the FDA and compliant with both FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and EU Annex 11 that regulate security of electronic records.
As a printer with decades of experience meeting the needs of our customers in the medical industry, we understand the importance of selecting the appropriate material for your application.
We offer skin-grade adhesives and materials. We are a 3M medical product supplier, authorized by stringent guidelines to properly print on these special materials.
For medical applications, materials are often laminated together to create a thicker material construction. These materials could include foam, paper, film, or multiple liners. Cutting through all these materials can be challenging and time consuming, and it's difficult for many printers to ensure accuracy and that all materials strip away properly.
We are expert at this process, and where other printers fail, you can expect perfection from Dion, regardless of material thickness or other variables unique to materials used for medical applications.

Extended Content Labels, also known as ECLs and Expanded Content Labels, are extremely effective tools for medical products. While traditional labels are printed on one side of a piece of material, ECLs will give you more space for a wide variety of information and can free space up on the front of your label for branding and essential product information.
Dion Label Printing offers a variety of extended content labels, which we break down here.
WRAPAROUND LABELS
Wraparound labels offer 720 degrees of print space for your label. They provide more real estate for print without the extra panels associated with booklet labels. As their name suggests, these labels wrap around a vessel twice; once a customer has peeled the label back, we use our read and re-apply construction so they can be neatly closed again.
Wraparound labels are sometimes referred to as vial labels because they are an ideal option for products in smaller containers. Some of the common vessel sizes we print wraparound labels for are 4mL, 10mL, and 15mL. We can print these labels on white or silver material.
PEEL BACK LABELS
Peel back labels, also called two-sided or double-sided labels, are an extended content label type used for additional printed information on the back side of a label.
Peel back labels have information printed on both sides with a read and re-apply label construction. The label can be peeled back from the container to reveal additional information and then re-applied as if it was never disturbed. Peel back labels are an easy open and re-sealable option that provide a complete solution to additional space requirements without excess packaging.
BOOKLET LABELS
Booklet labels, also known as hinged labels or commonly referred to simply as ECLs, are labels that use a hinged design with one or more extra panels to increase the amount of printable space available for information, while the amount of surface space the label takes up in the container remains the same.
Generally speaking, booklet labels provide more extra printable space than peel back labels, which use only the back side of the label for additional information.
Booklet labels use a read and re-apply label construction that allows the interior panel or panels of the label to be viewed, then resealed. These labels are ideal for extended drug facts, additional languages, directions, and much more.
We value how essential it is for our medical customers to have the tools available for lot control and traceability. We know that in the case of a recall or an issue arising during use of a medical product, manufacturers need to be able to pinpoint all aspects of their supply chain.
Here are a few of the measures we take for maintaining lot control and traceability:
We work with medical companies and hospitals to ensure that every label follows a specialized printing, inspection, and finishing procedure. Every roll of labels is labeled twice with production dates, product ID numbers, descriptions, batch numbers and accurate roll counts. Our shipping boxes also include detailed information and box counts. In addition, Dion Label Printing also offers your choice of rolls, sheets, and fan folding.
Here's an example of our inspection process for a medical label order:
Let's say a job uses 5 rolls of material in total. Roll number 1 is printed and then inspected by our Quality Assurance team at press to ensure quality is approved. Only after that first roll has been approved do we continue on with rolls 2-5. This process is unique for our medical customers. Retains from each roll number are also kept at the printing press for a designated amount of time and then stored properly. The same procedure happens when the printed rolls go to the finishing press, and then again during inspection. Some jobs have many rolls of material, so the total number or checks per job we complete is much higher than you'll find from other printers.
Our quality control process is not limited to these steps.
