The Creative Cook line is the brain child of British Pepper [&] Spice, the UK’s leading herbs and spice manufacturer. Their goal was to create a line for cooks that are short on time but are big on flavor. British Pepper [&] Spice worked with Robot Food, a brand design agency, to create the branding for Creative Cooks from the ground up.
While Creative Cooks is a UK-based company, we had to review their label design because of all the fun features they used. At the base of the design is the matte black material used for the cap label and the main label, which conveys a sense of professionalism. Starting at the top, the cap label features the Creative Cook seal, which includes the wordmark, icon, and tagline printed in a silver foil. Layered beneath the cap label and main label is their tamper label. It does not use any design per se, but instead acts as a color cue for that item’s particular flavor. The tamper label leads your eye directly to the center of the main label, where you will find that product’s name printed in the same color. Below that is a brief explanation of the flavor profile. The fonts used throughout the label are sans-serif, simple, and straightforward. Directly to the left of the product name, the Creative Cook seal is printed again in foil. And finally, the main label peels open to reveal a recipe utilizing that product. The use of a hinge label, tamper label, foil, and color cues creates a standout, fun look with a professional edge for creative cooks.
