Here at Dion Label Printing, we take pride in being extremely thorough throughout the entire label process. We’ve written blog posts in the past that focus on each detail required for a successful label application.
When considering all of the environmental concerns that will influence label application, proper label storage is often overlooked. As with the product itself, the efficiency of your label will be affected by improper storage. Storing your labels properly will extend their shelf life significantly. Here are some tips to get the most out of your labels:
- Avoid UV light, this will cause discoloration or fading. Storing your labels in an opaque container will shield them from harmful light.
- Extreme temperatures should be avoided, as this can affect the adhesive. Store your labels in a cool area, away from sunlight.
- Avoid moisture, humidity can also cause issues with the adhesive. Storing your labels in a closed, opaque container will help. Consider storing your labels in an air-conditioned area.
- Avoid dust, this is especially important with labels that are run on applicators or thermal printers. Dust will slowly wear on the mechanisms of applicators and printers, acting like a fine sandpaper. If you follow the steps above, avoiding dust will be easy!
