When crafting labels for a high-end food company, attention to detail is critical. Dion Label Printing partnered with local finishing butter company, Butter Cuisine, to assist them with their labels and packaging.
Butter Cuisine was founded in the spring of 2017 by husband and wife team Lori and Brian Halloran. Brian is a French-trained American chef who has worked in countless upscale dining establishments locally and abroad. He went on to teach operations classes for ten years until he began crafting his own business. Lori handles all sales and marketing efforts for Butter Cuisine and worked with Dion heavily on their label development. Together, the team worked to develop their own line of finishing butters and organic coconut butters. Finishing butters are a culinary ingredient that is used to enhance the flavors of prepared dishes. Some of the top selling flavors include Garlic Herb Butter, Mediterranean Butter, Lemon Caper Butter, Chili Lime Coconut Butter and more!
Prior to partnering with Dion Label Printing, Butter Cuisine took a more hands-on method to their labeling which involved hand writing or typing labels as needed. Lori commented it was “very labor intensive and not very professional looking.” The partnership between Dion and Butter Cuisine was established to develop a label that fit the high-quality product within. During initial stages, Dion assisted Butter Cuisine to take their label design to the next level. Lori commented the new look helped their product grow from being sold in just farmers markets to the retail sector.
All of Butter Cuisine’s labels are digitally printed CMYK on a paper base with a matte finish on our HP Indigo WS6800 press. Labels are diecut and finished on our digital finishing unit. The matte finish paired with classic fonts and colors gave the labels the artisanal “foodie” look they were going for. In addition, Dion assisted with other packaging factors including engineering a tamper evident label for their tub product line. Since products were refrigerated or frozen, Dion also ensured the correct adhesive was chosen for all temperature changes. By combining the ideal label shape with all the pertinent ingredient, nutritional and PLU number information, Butter Cuisine was positive the labels were ideal to support sales growth.
Faced with the task of selecting the ideal printer, Butter Cuisine opted to work with Dion based on a colleague referral and has remained a loyal partner due to the outstanding customer service provided. Lori comments the deciding factors to go with Dion had a lot to do with the staff who were extremely professional, responsive and knowledgeable.
Talking numbers, Butter Cuisine has measured a 75% reduced labeling time since switching to Dion! Customers also frequently comment on the new packaging and it has helped them achieve increased media exposure. The company was recently featured during the “In the Kitchen” spot on The Rhode Show.
