Ridesharing App Lyft Collaborates with Brewery to Promote Safe Driving

Lyft has partnered with companies across different industries to invite consumers to use their service, and now they are tackling the beer industry. Chicago-based Baderbrau Brewery has collaborated with ride-hailing app Lyft to create the ‘Five Star Lager’, a craft lager offering consumers a 60% discount on their next Lyft ride. This lager is a rebranded version of Baderbrau’s South Side Pride Helles lager.

Beyond the beer, the company is making sure consumers travel responsibly after drinking. Lyft has committed to using 24,000 cans for the cause and Baderbrau Brewery has distributed those cans to bars through-out the Chicago area. Each beer can offers a $5 discount on your next Lyft ride, which pays for itself if you plan on using the app after buying the beer. Lyft is known for partnering with beer companies to promote safe rides after a night out. In late 2017, Anheuser-Busch partnered with Lyft to provide free round-trip rides during weekends and holidays in Columbus, Missouri. Budweiser also teamed up with Lyft to provide free round trips in nine states as well as Washington, D.C. using a unique code found on their social media sites.

The incentive for Lyft’s discounts is to avoid drinking and driving by turning it from a statistic to an art. When consumers physically see the discount on the can of beer they are consuming, they are more inclined to use it and practice safe driving. Hopefully these collaborations will inspire other ridesharing apps (we’re talking to you, Uber) to follow suit.
