A tag is a thick grade of paper that is strong, durable, and resistant to wear and tear.
Tag material is used in a variety of applications including but not limited to bottle neck tags, hang tags, shelf talkers, and vouchers.
Using a tag in your packaging design or brand shelf presentation allows you to reinforce your label design and create a bigger impact. Dion Label Printing works with each client individually to ensure that their custom tag specifications are met, from the art to finishing.
When creating a tag, function is equally as important as appearance. Not only does a tag need to be attractive but it needs to serve a purpose. The experts at Dion are here to break down the frequently used tag materials and some key benefits of each.
White tag comes in an array of thicknesses from 8-10 pt. depending on the application. Tag can be described as a study non-adhesive material, not quite as thick as cardstock, but with more durability than normal label stock. As a staple for our tag products, this material is an economical option for many applications. White tag is not water resistant, so we recommended using it for bottle necks, hang tags, or other for dry retail displays. Customers producing a voucher will also often utilize a white tag material for a simple, functional solution.
Similar in appearance to standard tag, but much more durable, direct thermal tag is a great option for more rugged applications. As the material is both tear and water resistant, it is excellent for a tag that might be used outside or in a damp environment. Vouchers used for a pool or beach would be ideal for this type of tag as it would be durable if dropped in a bag full of wet clothing. Printing can be done on 1 or 2 sides and and we ensure face printed areas are coated with varnish to protect the ink.
Brands creating specialty products or sustainable goods often desire a unique tag application such as our kraft tag. The brown kraft appearance offers a textured, earthy looking background for your tag.
Tags are a versatile product that offer a wide variety of applications. Hang tags are frequently used on consumer products as a minimal yet decorative form of outer packaging. They often contain additional product information, recipes or instructions, promotions and coupons. There are a variety of high decorative options available for hang tags such as adding metallic stamping or using textured paper.
A more functional application for tags is for retail purposes such as shelf talkers describing the product on display. The recreation industry uses tag for redeemable vouchers which often have 1 and 2 sided printing. We print vouchers for a variety of recreational venues, including national parks, theaters, museums, sporting events, concerts and zoos.
Many voucher applications require a barcode for redemption purposes. Download our Barcode Guide for more details on adding a barcode to your next tag project or click the button below to contact a label solutions specialist.
