PLATE MAKER

JOB SUMMARY

A plate maker is part of the Dion Prepress team. The primary function of this role is to create the printing plates used in the flexographic print environment. This process consists of various manufacturing equipment, which turns an unexposed film into an exposed plate for the printing press. As part of this role, quality assurance checks are maintained by the plate maker throughout the process to ensure any defects or errors are recognized and reported. Equipment maintenance and monitoring are performed daily as well.

In addition to the primary role of plate making, this role will also perform the following tasks on a daily basis:

•    Trimming and organization of printed press proofs for customer and internal review.
•    Verifying, preparing & organizing jobs prior to production. 

General requirements

•    Will verify job information to ensure correct plates and specifications for each job.
•    Will deliver verified, finished plates to production.
•    Will perform all required maintenance on plating and related equipment.
•    Adheres to and promotes all safety protocols in the plate room and throughout the building.
•    Must be able to lift, pull, and push up to 60 lbs. frequently.
•    Required to stand and move about the facility regularly.
•    Must be able to twist, bend, and turn frequently.
•    Must have good hand-eye coordination.
•    Strong attention to detail.
•    Problem-solving abilities.
•    Ability to communicate in English, read, write and understand and to effectively use in proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.
•    Ability to perform basic arithmetic procedures in standard practical applications and general knowledge around reading and using a ruler.
•    Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, SOPs, timesheets, daily production reports, job tickets, etc.
•    Must be able to work both independently and part of a team.
•    Must be able to work overtime as needed.
* Previous experience in a prepress, flexographic or digital printing environment is preferred.
* Computer experience required.


SHIFT REQUIREMENTS

First shift position: M-F, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR

JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting and counting labels while maintaining Dion Label Printing’s high standard of quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

•    Strong attention to detail
•    Inspecting and counting rolls, sheet and/or fan-folded labels
•    Ability to stand for long periods of time
•    Working primarily on an upright machine
•    Flexibility to assist in the press room

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

•    Able to work in a production environment around equipment and loud noises

ABILITIES REQUIRED

•    Familiar with computers
•    Ability to read a ruler
•    Basic math skills
•    Minimum 1+ years of manufacturing / production experience


SHIFT REQUIREMENTS

1st shift: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm OR
2nd Shift: Monday – Thursday 3:00pm to 1:30am (4-day)

flexographic press assistant-Temp to Hire

JOB SUMMARY

The responsibility of a press assistant is to help with production runs. This is accomplished through job prep, press assistance during the production run, and cleanup of the press and job materials after the production run.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

•    Setting up orders
      o    Mounting plates
      o    Pull tooling 
      o    Pull inks
      o    Requesting stock required for job (communicate need to Materials Handler)
•    Press clean up
      o    Print units 
•    Trash 
•    Clean print plates
•    Forklift License (not required)

Minimum requirements

•    Good hand/eye coordination
•    Able to read a ruler

ABILITIES REQUIRED

•    Physical strength and stamina
•    Must be able to lift 30 pounds
•    Must be able to remain on feet for long periods of time
      o    Standing
      o    Walking  
•    Flexibility
      o    Bending
