Meet the Team: Scott Smith
We love when we add new members to our team who fit in right away as if they’ve been with us for years. Scott Smith may have only been working at Dion Label Printing for a few months, but his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and unique perspective make him an addition we are all grateful to have as part of our team.
As a Label Solutions Specialist, Scott’s main job is to sell our superb labels and services, but as with our entire sales team, his real goal is to cultivate connections. When we asked Scott what his favorite part of his job is, he talked about the importance of meeting people and developing relationships. He said, “When people ask me what I do for a living, I like to tell them my job is to make friends.”
When Scott first learned about Dion, he was impressed by how many long-term employees the company boasts. “It seems like everyone is already 10, 15, or 20 years in and still loves coming to work,” he said. “That says a lot about a company.” And only a few weeks into his tenure at Dion, Scott had his proudest moment so far when he made his first sale!
Outside of work, Scott tries to be outdoors as often as possible. He loves to ride his bike and explore new places. He’s outgoing and adventurous: he loves trying new foods and sharing experiences with friends—as well as making new ones along the way.
Here are five facts about Scott that we love:
1. He used to race bicycles professionally around the world.
2. He’s eaten a pig’s eyeball (yikes!)
3. He’s been to the Great Wall of China.
4. One of his first jobs was a trashman (actually riding on the back of the truck and everything).
5. He’s swum in the North Sea.
We are so excited to have this eclectic gentleman as one of the newest additions to our team. Scott’s personal philosophy is “get knocked down nine times, stand up ten,” and his resiliency and optimistic attitude shine through in all his interactions. His advice to others is to “focus on loving the process, not the result,” and we couldn’t think of a better way to go about your day to day in any profession or other activity in life.
