MATERIAL SELECTION

Tickets must serve a functional purpose, first and foremost, while achieving the desired look for your recreation center. The experts at Dion are here to break down the frequently used ticket materials and some key benefits of each.

Direct thermal tag - Printable, tear and water resistant

Direct thermal tag is the ideal option for rugged applications. As the material is both tear and water resistant, it is excellent for a ticket used outdoors that might be inserted into a lanyard or placed in a jacket pocket. Ski areas will often use this material for lift and tubing tickets. Printing can be done on 1 or 2 sides and we ensure printed areas are coated with varnish to protect the ink. Direct thermal material allows for additional printing at your resort with a product-specific printer for dates or numbers.

direct thermal film & paper - Printable, TEAR & Water Resistant options

Direct thermal film and paper are frequently used in the ski industry for lift tickets applied on wickets. Both of our direct thermal film and paper options have sticky back materials, making them flexible and versatile. The film option is also water and tear resistant for a very rugged construction that will hang well on a ski jacket wicket all season long. Single sided printing is available and all face-printed areas are coated with varnish to protect the ink. Two sided printing is available for this material where we print on the liner. Direct thermal material allows for additional printing at your resort with a product-specific printer as with the tag option above.

FLUORESCENT & COLORED PAPERS - BRIGHT, NOTICEABLE

Paper options such as our fluorescent and colored litho papers are popular among our cross country and outdoor adventure customers. Resorts offering cross country, biking, hiking, and trail passes often prefer one of these paper options as they easily stick onto a wicket and are highly visible. We offer fluorescent paper in red, pink, chartreuse, orange, and green. Litho paper is offered in bright yellow and plain white for a vast array of color printing options.

PRINTABLE PLASTIC - COLD TEMPERATURE ADHESIVE, TEAR & WATER RESISTANT

Printable plastic is a white base material that has a cold temperature adhesive. Ski resort shops love printable plastic for lift tickets or for decals that are placed on a snowboard and exposed to both moisture and cold temperatures. This versatile material is also tear and water resistant making it an all-over durable outdoor material.

Security features

Tickets are among the top counterfeited products in the country, making security highly important to our recreation customers. The Dion team exerts a high level of care to all tickets manufactured in our facility to ensure all specifications are met and quality procedures are followed.

There are a number of security features that can be added to any ticket based on your needs. Some of the more specialty security features are detailed below. One feature, not often thought of as security, is the addition of a barcode. By adding a barcode to your ticket you are allowing it to be scanned during use to maintain inventory. Download our Barcode Guide for more details on adding a barcode to your ticket.

TYPES OF TICKET SECURITY FEATURES

CLEAR FRAUD SEALS

Ticket customers will often add a clear seal to one or more sections of a ticket. The seal can be created in any desired shape or size such as the resort logo or name. Not easily visible at a glance but difficult to replicate, clear fraud seals are a popular choice for ticket security.

TAMPER CUTS & CUSTOM DIES

When using a sticky back ticket material, such as our fluorescent paper, tamper cuts can be included in the construction. A typical ticket tamper cut will include several diagonal slashes on one side of the ticket. The ticket adheres onto itself over a wicket for use. If the ticket were to be removed for transfer to another individual, it would tear rendering it useless.

Whether you are looking for an industry standard ticket size or something completely custom, the Dion team can help. We offer a multitude of options to manipulate existing tooling to meet your needs.
