Cleaning Up Your Label

It’s been on the radar of natural companies for a while, but it’s increasingly obvious that clean labeling and transparent communication to customers is not a fad. In fact, consumers seeking purity of ingredients and clarity of processing information from the brands they purchase from has become more and more mainstream, especially for dietary supplement, personal care, and food and beverage products. Clean labeling attributes and transparency are now significant sales drivers for businesses of all types, not just those who consider themselves specialty natural products.

Relevant information that will entice someone to purchase your product is essential to include on your label. You must be straightforward about the ingredients that are in (and not in) your product. It is also important to share information about how your product is made or processed. Consumers have more ways than ever before to educate themselves, and when it comes to products that will be ingested or used topically to promote health, omitting information will only create mistrust among most potential buyers.

When purchasing products, consumers rely heavily on the product’s label as a source of accurate and helpful information. Labels that contain full ingredient lists, information about the processing facility, and details about brand values are much more likely to sway potential customers toward your product. However, we know that consumers often make split-second decisions when making purchases, so communicating quickly and effectively is key. Below are a few of the ways Dion Label Printing can help you do just that!

Informative Graphics

Rather than including tiny text that lists your product features, how about using a number of various graphic symbols that communicate the same information in a more appealing way? Many of these graphics are relatively standard (think the NON-GMO Project and Cruelty Free logos), but the options are limitless when you print with Dion. You can create your own graphics that are easy to scan and digest, communicating information about your product and the type of brand you are to your customers instantaneously.

We can assure you of beautifully printed colors and graphics on every label, so you can simplify design, communicate brand values, and generate more emphasis on specific product features. See the below image for how JBN’s Superior Veggie label uses several simple graphics to communicate tons of benefit and ingredient information in a direct and concise way.

Don’t forget that including what’s NOT in your product is another principle for clean labeling. Highlighting the product’s exclusion of artificial and unrecognizable ingredients can be just as important as including what beneficial ingredients have been added.

QR Codes

As mentioned above, consumers have nearly unlimited access to information and are using it to educate themselves about their product choices more and more often. They are frequently searching to connect more deeply with the products they are purchasing as well. Transparent and clean labeling choices enable you to share ingredient and brand information with a customer upfront, fostering a relationship of trust and honesty that will create brand loyalists and enable you to reach a wider audience.

And custom QR codes on your labels are another way in which you can do just that. You can use QR codes to allow a customer to scan your product and immediately access the information they require about your product or bonus stories you’d like to share. One of the best features of QR codes is that they don’t take up much real estate, so your design doesn’t suffer as a result of using one. Plus, you can create greater engagement with people by directing them to relevant and interesting content.

As a leader in both digital and flexographic printing, Dion can print QR codes on any type of label, and your customers can have the quick and easy access to information about your product they have come to expect.

We guarantee the scanability of all our barcodes, whether they are QR codes or regular UPC barcodes. Having the appropriate barcode for your product is not only essential to getting your product on a retail shelf, it can also help you with inventory and supply chain management. Food and nutrition apps have become incredibly popular over the last few years, and enabling your customers to access your product information through barcode scanning can be a huge boon to your business, but you need the right printer for the job. If you’re interested in learning more about barcodes, read our blog on the topic here.

Not just any label printer can offer the above features to help you achieve your clean labeling and transparency goals. To effectively communicate your product information and brand values to customers, you need labels that are printed with the utmost quality, clarity, and color. Designing a label can be an involved process; logos, fonts, layout, material, and finish all must be taken into account. Then there’s the product-specific copy and information to include. It’s easy to get hung up on any or all of these things, but don’t forget to consider the importance of color selection While you may be choosing your colors based on your product or on your own color preference, you always want to make sure your colors are communicating the right thing to potential customers.

As part of Inovar Packaging Group, Dion Label Printing is working to creating a world-class enterprise by building an innovative platform to drive sustainable growth and handle the increasingly complex demands of our diverse range of customers. Over the last several years, our parent company Inovar has acquired new facilities at a quick pace, including, most recently: Cimarron Label in Sioux Falls, SD and Amherst Label in Milford, NH. Acquiring is a major part of Inovar’s strategy to grow the company and better serve our customers and our internal teams, and we are concurrently working to expand our capacity, capabilities, and service offerings in other ways. To that end Inovar has recently moved into a newly renovated headquarters building in Dallas, TX. Located just a short distance from Inovar’s previous facility headquarters, the new location was built to showcase the mission of our brand. At triple the size of the last facility, this brand new building with its huge increase in both office and production space will enable us to provide even more solutions and support to our customers. The new facility is not just larger, however. In order to increase our capacity, capabilities, and offerings, and give our customers the highest quality labels and packaging solutions, we’ve added two new flexographic presses and a new digital press. Our Director of Marketing, Ashley Stewart, states, “the additional capacity, services, and embellishment capabilities will greatly increase our ability to meet all the requirements of even the most demanding brands. The team is thrilled to debut the new facility and showcase our capabilities to our existing and future customers.” We also have other expansions in the works. An addition of almost 20,000 additional square feet of production and warehousing space will expand Inovar’s Milwaukee, WI, location, Flexo-Graphics, and its presence in the area. We are excited for the opportunities our growth provides us to continue our rise as a premier label and packaging solution provider. Contact us today and let our growth help fuel yours.
