People outside of Farmer's Market

Last summer, getting fresh local produce looked a lot different than it had in previous years. Luckily, in many communities across the country and especially here in western Massachusetts, farms, small businesses, and non-profits joined forces in creative ways to ensure people could still get healthy food and products from local businesses in safe ways. From food delivery services to contactless pick-up stations, challenge bred innovation for many in our area. This year, however, we’re happy to see so many classic farmer’s markets back in action!

As a label printer located in western Massachusetts, many of our partners are businesses local to the area. With the re-instatement of traditional farmer’s markets in most towns across the region, we’d like to put the spotlight on some of the incredible brands you can find locally!

Sweet Birch Herbals

Sweet Birch Herbals is a community herbal medicine company based in Ashfield, Massachusetts. Founder, Hannah Jacobson-Hardy has a passion for connecting people to their own inner wisdom with the assistance of plant-based medicine so they may lead healthy lives that are truly aligned with their values.

Crooked Stick Pops

Popmaster Julie Tuman founded Crooked Stick Pops in January 2016. Her vision for Crooked Stick is to use fresh healthy ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible, to make brilliant flavors that are fun for families but creative and surprising enough to fascinate adults.

Old Friend’s Farm

Old Friend’s Farm grows 28 acres of certified organic salads, vegetables, and flowers. They are widely known for pioneering Northeast-grown Ginger and Turmeric, and for the specialty products they make with those powerful roots. They are committed to a healthy workplace, environment, and community, and their products are infused with that attention.

Berkshire Mountain Bakery

Walk through the door of Berkshire Mountain Bakery located in Housatonic, Massachusetts in the heart of the Berkshires and you will find yourself in the midst of a baking flurry with baker/owner, Richard Bourdon, orchestrating the production. In this European style bakery, traditional techniques rule the baking process and so most bread is naturally leavened with sourdough fermentation and hand shaped. The result is very digestible and delicious bread.

Justamere Tree Farm

Justamere Tree Farm is an all women-owned farm producing maple syrup while honoring centuries old traditions. They have a full line of additional maple products which they make using only the highest quality ingredients. Their business runs on solar power and locally-harvested trees fuel our evaporator. They are nourished by nature and in turn, provide nature’s sweetness to nourish others.

This list is just a small sample of many of the incredible local brands we partner with. And fruits and vegetables don’t require labels, so there is of course much more to be found at your farmer’s market. Designing a label can be an involved process; logos, fonts, layout, material, and finish all must be taken into account. Then there’s the product-specific copy and information to include. It’s easy to get hung up on any or all of these things, but don’t forget to consider the importance of color selection While you may be choosing your colors based on your product or on your own color preference, you always want to make sure your colors are communicating the right thing to potential customers.

As part of Inovar Packaging Group, Dion Label Printing is working to creating a world-class enterprise by building an innovative platform to drive sustainable growth and handle the increasingly complex demands of our diverse range of customers. Over the last several years, our parent company Inovar has acquired new facilities at a quick pace, including, most recently: Cimarron Label in Sioux Falls, SD and Amherst Label in Milford, NH. Acquiring is a major part of Inovar’s strategy to grow the company and better serve our customers and our internal teams, and we are concurrently working to expand our capacity, capabilities, and service offerings in other ways. To that end Inovar has recently moved into a newly renovated headquarters building in Dallas, TX. Located just a short distance from Inovar’s previous facility headquarters, the new location was built to showcase the mission of our brand. At triple the size of the last facility, this brand new building with its huge increase in both office and production space will enable us to provide even more solutions and support to our customers. The new facility is not just larger, however. In order to increase our capacity, capabilities, and offerings, and give our customers the highest quality labels and packaging solutions, we’ve added two new flexographic presses and a new digital press. Our Director of Marketing, Ashley Stewart, states, “the additional capacity, services, and embellishment capabilities will greatly increase our ability to meet all the requirements of even the most demanding brands. The team is thrilled to debut the new facility and showcase our capabilities to our existing and future customers.” We also have other expansions in the works. An addition of almost 20,000 additional square feet of production and warehousing space will expand Inovar’s Milwaukee, WI, location, Flexo-Graphics, and its presence in the area. We are excited for the opportunities our growth provides us to continue our rise as a premier label and packaging solution provider. Contact us today and let our growth help fuel yours.
