Ashley Stewart • Oct 12, 2021

With the market hitting an all time competitive high, customers will often ask us “why should we choose you?” Standing out amongst the hundreds of printers across this country can be challenging but as we dive into our Perfection Thorough Process Quality method, you will see the detailed efforts put into each and every step of the way. Below we will explore Pre-Production (artwork & proofing), Production (printing your labels) and Post-Production (inspection & shipping).

Pre-Production

From the minute your label order is received, our detailed, step by step quality method begins. Every order begins with our customer support team that ticks through a vast number of quality checks. We want to make sure that your label details are entered correctly into the system and verified against your purchase order. Our team also preflights your artwork to confirm the digital files supplied for printing are all present, valid and correctly formatted.

Prepress receives the order from customer support and double checks all artwork supplied to ensure the label will print to your desired outcome. Our team of artists will create an electronic proof, with an option for a printed proof, and ensure the label is thoroughly proofed for copy and graphics.

Important takeaway points:
  • We do not use a call center; you will speak to a representative in our Westfield office every single time
  • Prepress does both manual and electronic proofing of your label art for accuracy
  • Color standards are created for each label to ensure re-orders maintain color consistency
  • We are a GMI certified platinum printer and can meet the most extreme color matching standards

Production

Whether you have a large order that will be printed flexographically or an order with multiple skus that will run digitally, our press operators begin by reviewing every label order fully. A complete assessment includes review of the ticket, material, colors, coating, die cut, web direction and more. We also have in-line comparators on our presses to ensure print registration is on point and colors are accurate.

We also have a dedicated Quality Assurance department that does multiple checks of every label including proofreading, verifying information to the ticket, and ensuring color consistency between orders.

Important takeaway points:
  • Dedicated checks on all label details by press operators before printing
  • 50+ point quality assurance approval checks for every label order
  • Guaranteed color and print consistency between orders
  • Barcode scanning verification

Post-Production

Once your labels have been printed, our Quality Control team takes over to inspect every label for any print defects. Our team uses high-speed inspection equipment to thoroughly check your labels and ensure rolls are properly marked for easy inventory tracking. Shipping is the last stop before your labels are in your possession where our team once again verifies all items and quantities to the purchase order before carefully packing your order and loading it in a shipping truck.

Important takeaway points:
  • 20+ point quality control checks for every label order
  • Best practices including label segregation, line clearance and equipment maintenance
  • Custom core label to make inventory control a breeze
  • Signed certificate of compliance for all steps mentioned above by our Quality Assurance team prior to shipment

It’s easy to get hung up on any or all of these things, but don’t forget to consider the importance of color selection While you may be choosing your colors based on your product or on your own color preference, you always want to make sure your colors are communicating the right thing to potential customers.

As part of Inovar Packaging Group, Dion Label Printing is working to creating a world-class enterprise by building an innovative platform to drive sustainable growth and handle the increasingly complex demands of our diverse range of customers. Over the last several years, our parent company Inovar has acquired new facilities at a quick pace, including, most recently: Cimarron Label in Sioux Falls, SD and Amherst Label in Milford, NH. Acquiring is a major part of Inovar’s strategy to grow the company and better serve our customers and our internal teams, and we are concurrently working to expand our capacity, capabilities, and service offerings in other ways. To that end Inovar has recently moved into a newly renovated headquarters building in Dallas, TX. Located just a short distance from Inovar’s previous facility headquarters, the new location was built to showcase the mission of our brand. At triple the size of the last facility, this brand new building with its huge increase in both office and production space will enable us to provide even more solutions and support to our customers. The new facility is not just larger, however. In order to increase our capacity, capabilities, and offerings, and give our customers the highest quality labels and packaging solutions, we’ve added two new flexographic presses and a new digital press. Our Director of Marketing, Ashley Stewart, states, “the additional capacity, services, and embellishment capabilities will greatly increase our ability to meet all the requirements of even the most demanding brands. The team is thrilled to debut the new facility and showcase our capabilities to our existing and future customers.” We also have other expansions in the works. An addition of almost 20,000 additional square feet of production and warehousing space will expand Inovar’s Milwaukee, WI, location, Flexo-Graphics, and its presence in the area. We are excited for the opportunities our growth provides us to continue our rise as a premier label and packaging solution provider. Contact us today and let our growth help fuel yours.
