New companies, medium-sized players, and established brands all are competing for ways to set their products apart. If your product is a personal care morning ritual staple, a sparkling wine meant to be enjoyed on special occasions, or something else entirely, your label and packaging choices are one of the most forceful and immediate ways you can nudge a consumer toward your offerings over their many other options. Label design and color choices play an important role here, but have you considered your label’s base material and finishing options? How about creating a unique texturized label?

Textured labels have long been a go-to in the wine and spirit industries for good reason. While a majority of traditional labels are printed on film or paper materials, in the wine and spirit industries where options are vast and consumers often undecided right up until the moment of purchase, the look and feel of a product label has long been recognized as an essential differentiator. But in the last several years, more and more companies across a variety of markets have begun opting for textured labels. From food, beverage, beer, personal care, and recently cannabis and CBD products, many companies now recognize that a textured label provides the opportunity to connect with potential customers on not just the basis of sight, but also of touch. This added accent can create an emotional connection with the consumer before they ever try your product.

The team of label experts at Dion offers several options when it comes to creating a textured label. From base materials to specialty finishing options, we will customize a solution that is right for your brand, your design, and your budget.

Sam's Natural candle labels use a textured linen paper to complement their natural scents

When you want a high-end look for your product, one of the best ways to achieve it is to opt for a specialty base material for your label. Textured linen and estate papers are of one of the ways we at Dion can create that elegant look. The textured look and feel add an element of sophistication to any product. According to Packaging Gateway, “labels with a ‘fashion textile’ appeal” are gaining popularity across a wide variety of industries. We offer many linen/estate options for labels here at Dion, but our range of textile materials doesn’t stop there.

If your goal is to create a high-end look for your product, black vellum is a fantastic way to go. This thick material gives you a luxe look unlike any other. If none of this sounds unique enough to suit your brand, we offer wood grain material! This material is actually made of wood and comes in different finishes like birch and cherry.

Base materials are not the only path to achieve the gorgeous label you are striving for. At Dion we offer a number of specialty finishes to help you dazzle your customers. Rather than selecting a gloss or matte finish, you can choose both: selective gloss varnish is an excellent way to make certain design or textual elements of your label pop.

While texturized base materials are gaining in popularity, why not create a texturized label through your finish? An incredible option is a grit varnish. This finishing coat creates a three-dimensional textured effect that goes beyond what even the most textured papers can do.

We at Dion recognize the importance of helping you reach the widest customer base possible, which is why we’ve spent the last fifty years perfecting our techniques and keeping abreast of trends to offer you incredible label options that you can’t find with just any label printer. Designing a label can be an involved process; logos, fonts, layout, material, and finish all must be taken into account. Then there’s the product-specific copy and information to include. It’s easy to get hung up on any or all of these things, but don’t forget to consider the importance of color selection While you may be choosing your colors based on your product or on your own color preference, you always want to make sure your colors are communicating the right thing to potential customers.

As part of Inovar Packaging Group, Dion Label Printing is working to creating a world-class enterprise by building an innovative platform to drive sustainable growth and handle the increasingly complex demands of our diverse range of customers. Over the last several years, our parent company Inovar has acquired new facilities at a quick pace, including, most recently: Cimarron Label in Sioux Falls, SD and Amherst Label in Milford, NH. Acquiring is a major part of Inovar’s strategy to grow the company and better serve our customers and our internal teams, and we are concurrently working to expand our capacity, capabilities, and service offerings in other ways. To that end Inovar has recently moved into a newly renovated headquarters building in Dallas, TX. Located just a short distance from Inovar’s previous facility headquarters, the new location was built to showcase the mission of our brand. At triple the size of the last facility, this brand new building with its huge increase in both office and production space will enable us to provide even more solutions and support to our customers. The new facility is not just larger, however. In order to increase our capacity, capabilities, and offerings, and give our customers the highest quality labels and packaging solutions, we’ve added two new flexographic presses and a new digital press. Our Director of Marketing, Ashley Stewart, states, “the additional capacity, services, and embellishment capabilities will greatly increase our ability to meet all the requirements of even the most demanding brands. The team is thrilled to debut the new facility and showcase our capabilities to our existing and future customers.” We also have other expansions in the works. An addition of almost 20,000 additional square feet of production and warehousing space will expand Inovar’s Milwaukee, WI, location, Flexo-Graphics, and its presence in the area. We are excited for the opportunities our growth provides us to continue our rise as a premier label and packaging solution provider. Contact us today and let our growth help fuel yours.
