There is no shortage of innovative companies working to improve well-being in New England, and in 2017 Affinity joined the arena of brands in the area creating products that are about much more than profit. With a location in West Springfield, MA and another one that just opened in Boston, Affinity’s mission is to bring an elevated medical cannabis experience to New England. To them, quality means consistency, and consistency requires a systematic, measured, scientific process. They work tirelessly to ensure their products always provide the same results, from strain cultivation to testing protocols, to training dispensary associates.

While offering high-quality consistent products is essential, they care just as much for the planet as they do for their patients. Affinity adheres to a zero-waste policy and processes every usable part of the plant with custom-designed extraction technology. Cultivating plants, cultivating connections, cultivating perfection: that’s what Affinity is all about.

As a local label printer with years of experience working with cannabis companies who understands the importance of providing our customers with superior quality products, our partnership with Affinity came very naturally. Their gorgeous label design was just the icing on the cake!

With the incredible proliferation of cannabis companies in the last several years, offering outstanding product is essential. But for cannabis brands who want to grow their sales and create brand loyalists, label and packaging design can’t be overlooked. One challenge cannabis brands face when it comes to creating attractive label design is spatial: certain information must be included on your label, like ingredient lists and warnings of potential health risks, depending on your product and the state you’re in. So how to include all the necessary regulatory information while maintaining an engaging look?

Affinity Product Labels

At Dion Label Printing, we offer a variety of extended content labels suited perfectly to solve the spatial challenge of including a large amount of information in a small amount of space. For many of Affinity’s product labels, we worked with them to determine that a peel back label, also known as a two-sided label, was the appropriate construction. Peel back labels have information printed on both sides with a read and re-apply label construction. The label can be peeled back from the container to reveal additional information and then re-applied as if it was never disturbed. This option allowed Affinity to include nutrition information on their edible labels without disrupting the beautiful, clean design on the front of their labels.

For a medical cannabis company providing the absolute best, scientifically verified product for their patients, a minimalistic design aligns perfectly with Affinity’s identity. It allows them to communicate the clean and natural origins of their products. It also conveys the medicinal nature of the product, while each label’s unique geometric metallic patterns give it a bit of style. A matte finish completes the modern, fresh look of these labels.

Maintaining brand consistency is essential for cannabis brands in the crowded product landscape of today, as we discussed in our blog “Color is Key: Maintaining Brand Consistency for Small and Large Cannabis Brands.” Affinity choose a simple color palette of white and a robin’s egg blue that they use to great effect with a metallic base material to include some silver and blue metallic features. For many of the labels the background is white with the brand name, logo, and product information in blue and the geometric patterns specific to the product type in silver. However for some of their labels they reverse the color palette, a simple but effective way to maintain brand consistency while differentiate among products.

We love partnering with local brands, and when those companies share the same goals and mission as us, it makes working together all the sweeter. Affinity continues to grow and expand in the New England area, and we’re thrilled to see what the future brings to this company where quality and consistency are key!

Designing a label can be an involved process; logos, fonts, layout, material, and finish all must be taken into account. Then there’s the product-specific copy and information to include. It’s easy to get hung up on any or all of these things, but don’t forget to consider the importance of color selection While you may be choosing your colors based on your product or on your own color preference, you always want to make sure your colors are communicating the right thing to potential customers.

As part of Inovar Packaging Group, Dion Label Printing is working to creating a world-class enterprise by building an innovative platform to drive sustainable growth and handle the increasingly complex demands of our diverse range of customers. Over the last several years, our parent company Inovar has acquired new facilities at a quick pace, including, most recently: Cimarron Label in Sioux Falls, SD and Amherst Label in Milford, NH. Acquiring is a major part of Inovar’s strategy to grow the company and better serve our customers and our internal teams, and we are concurrently working to expand our capacity, capabilities, and service offerings in other ways. To that end Inovar has recently moved into a newly renovated headquarters building in Dallas, TX. Located just a short distance from Inovar’s previous facility headquarters, the new location was built to showcase the mission of our brand. At triple the size of the last facility, this brand new building with its huge increase in both office and production space will enable us to provide even more solutions and support to our customers. The new facility is not just larger, however. In order to increase our capacity, capabilities, and offerings, and give our customers the highest quality labels and packaging solutions, we’ve added two new flexographic presses and a new digital press. Our Director of Marketing, Ashley Stewart, states, “the additional capacity, services, and embellishment capabilities will greatly increase our ability to meet all the requirements of even the most demanding brands. The team is thrilled to debut the new facility and showcase our capabilities to our existing and future customers.” We also have other expansions in the works. An addition of almost 20,000 additional square feet of production and warehousing space will expand Inovar’s Milwaukee, WI, location, Flexo-Graphics, and its presence in the area. We are excited for the opportunities our growth provides us to continue our rise as a premier label and packaging solution provider. Contact us today and let our growth help fuel yours.
