Dion Label Printing is very lucky to have such a large group of dedicated employees who have stayed on board for decades. These employees have helped build up Dion for all these years and continue to help make the company shine to this day. One of these great employees is Senior Prepress Specialist, Melissa Moccio. She has been with Dion for twenty four years. As a Senior Prepress Specialist, Melissa knows all the ins and outs of the Prepress Department. Her main responsibilities are the scheduling of incoming art jobs to be proofed to the customers and processing final prep files through our system for approved to run jobs for our digital, conventional flexo & MPS presses for electronic files for physical flexo plates to be made. Because of the many years at Dion under her belt, Melissa also fills in in different capacities within the Prepress Department when someone is out.
When asked what she loves most about her job, Melissa replied, “I love the people I work with; we all make a great team.” She says what drew her to Dion originally was, “I outgrew the small print and copy business I had been working for and was looking for more of a challenge in the printing industry.” We’re sure Melissa has had many proud moments here at Dion over the past twenty four years, however she says her proudest is not just one singular moment. “I am proud of the quality of labels we produce and when I see a label on a product I tell family and friends, ‘hey, we print that label’.” That is definitely a special feeling we all experience at Dion.
Melissa shared with us 5 random facts about herself:
1.) I have 3 older sisters and we all had to share one bathroom growing up.
2.) When I was little I wanted a pet monkey.
3.) My dad made us mow the lawn with a manual lawn mower.
4.) I know how to compound and wax a car.
5.) I love Amaretto Sours.
When she is out of the office, Melissa is all about family time. During the fall and winter she enjoys watching her youngest daughter’s gymnastics competitions and during the fall, spring and summer she is in the stands cheering at her oldest daughter’s softball games. She also finds delight in just hanging out with her family and is looking forward to spending more time with them catching up due to the pandemic last year.
Melissa always has a bright smile on her face and it’s contagious when you see her. Her personal philosophy is “a smile goes a long way” and she couldn’t be more right. To those who are seeking professional advice, she advises “don’t be afraid of change; this industry is constantly changing.”
