Holiday-sparkle

There are an untold number of ways that people celebrate the holidays, and a huge number of them involve purchasing. From buying delicious treats to share with family and friends to gift-giving in its many forms, the holidays are undeniably a time when people are looking for products that exemplify the spirit of the season. And incorporating candy canes and snowflakes in your label design is not the only way to attract holiday buyers (although if those icons align with your brand, they probably won’t hurt). If you don’t make a holiday-specific product, don’t worry; a simple way to take advantage of people’s holiday spending is to change your label, transforming your product instantly into a special seasonal gift.

At Dion we offer incredible options for bringing your packaging to the next level this season and all year round. Labels and packaging continue to be an influential part of a consumer’s desire to pick up and purchase a product. The holiday season can be an opportune time to expand your brand labels and release some limited edition pieces. Even once the holidays have passed, introducing a limited edition product with a new label material or design can open the door to new customers. If you are open to thinking beyond your established packaging, keep reading for ways Dion Label Printing can make your brand shine!

Dion Label Printing Black Vellum Wine Label

These wine labels we designed show off our luxe black vellum material with a selective gloss over the star and textual elements.

NEW PRODUCT, NEW LABEL MATERIAL

When you want a high-end or unique look for your product, one of the best ways to achieve it is to opt for a specialty base material for your label. While linen and estate papers have long been popular among wine brands, they are gaining traction in other industries across the spectrum. The textured look and feel add an element of sophistication to any product. According to Packaging Gateway, “labels with a ‘fashion textile’ appeal” are gaining popular across a wide variety of industries.

We offer many linen/estate options for labels here at Dion, but our range of textile materials doesn’t stop there. If your goal is to create a high-end look for your product, black vellum is a fantastic way to go. This thick material gives you a luxe look unlike any other. If none of this sounds unique enough to suit your brand, we offer wood grain material! This material is actually made of wood and comes in different finishes like birch and cherry.

SPECIAL EFFECTS

Base materials are not the only path to achieve the high decoration label you are striving for. We offer a number of specialty finishes to help you dazzle your customers. Rather than selecting a gloss or matte finish, you can choose both: Selective gloss varnish is an excellent way to make certain design or textual elements of your label pop. While texturized base materials are gaining in popularity, why not create a texturized label through your finish? An incredible option is a grit varnish. This finishing coat actually creates a three dimensional textured effect that goes beyond what even the most textured papers can do.

Cold foiling and hot stamping are two other techniques that are popular for limited edition products, especially as the holiday shopping season gears up. If you want metallic elements on your label but don’t require the entire label to be metallic, one of these a may be an option for you, especially if you are looking for a uniquely high-end finish.

Some other options we offer for high decoration effects are embossing, back printing, and Cast and Cure™, which we’ve written about here. Whatever effect you opt for, our label solution specialists will work with you closely to ensure the right options are selected to fit your application needs!

DESIGN SWITCH UP

Switching up your label design is an easy way to add interest to your limited edition labels. Consider using metallics such as silver and gold for a holiday-themed label or experiment with other metallic accents. We can achieve an innumerable variety of metallic colors, from classic golds and silvers, to indigos, magentas, and just about any other color you can imagine by printing on metallic paper or foil.

We’ve also noticed a trend towards hand-drawn holiday-inspired illustrations to give your product a festive and personal touch. This can be accomplished in such a wide variety of ways, from adding small graphics (stars, trees, ornaments, you name it!) to your label that otherwise is unchanged, or transferring your regular imagery for something seasonally-themed. Whatever route you go, a Dion printed label will have impeccable color and help you impact the widest customer base.

Limited edition labels and packaging are not limited to the holidays and can be equally profitable during other months. It's important to keep some properties from your original label design such as the logo, a pattern, or image to ensure it still remains "on brand." Expert Bonus Tip: Design a limited edition label with no expiration, such as using a winter theme rather than a holiday theme, to allow for a longer shelf life!

As part of Inovar Packaging Group, Dion Label Printing is working to creating a world-class enterprise by building an innovative platform to drive sustainable growth and handle the increasingly complex demands of our diverse range of customers. Over the last several years, our parent company Inovar has acquired new facilities at a quick pace, including, most recently: Cimarron Label in Sioux Falls, SD and Amherst Label in Milford, NH. Acquiring is a major part of Inovar’s strategy to grow the company and better serve our customers and our internal teams, and we are concurrently working to expand our capacity, capabilities, and service offerings in other ways. To that end Inovar has recently moved into a newly renovated headquarters building in Dallas, TX. Located just a short distance from Inovar’s previous facility headquarters, the new location was built to showcase the mission of our brand. At triple the size of the last facility, this brand new building with its huge increase in both office and production space will enable us to provide even more solutions and support to our customers. The new facility is not just larger, however. In order to increase our capacity, capabilities, and offerings, and give our customers the highest quality labels and packaging solutions, we’ve added two new flexographic presses and a new digital press. Our Director of Marketing, Ashley Stewart, states, “the additional capacity, services, and embellishment capabilities will greatly increase our ability to meet all the requirements of even the most demanding brands. The team is thrilled to debut the new facility and showcase our capabilities to our existing and future customers.” We also have other expansions in the works. An addition of almost 20,000 additional square feet of production and warehousing space will expand Inovar’s Milwaukee, WI, location, Flexo-Graphics, and its presence in the area. We are excited for the opportunities our growth provides us to continue our rise as a premier label and packaging solution provider. Contact us today and let our growth help fuel yours.
